I am not offended at all. I understand completely. I live here and after the mass shootings, deaths of armed Black people due to police brutality, and the ignorant ass politicains, you become numb. It' s hard to muster up any more sympathy or empathy.
After the Sandy Hook shooting, I just knew that the deaths of all those babies would make lawmakers do something about gun laws. But it didn't. For me, that was truly heartbreaking. So any other mass shootings from right wing white supremacists or psychiatric patients with a stockpile of weapons has become par for the course unfortunately.
It is deplorable that innocent people have to suffer and die, because the NRA is well connected to greedy politicans, who aren't worth the skin they live in or the air they breathe.
It's so disheartening to realize that even back then, it was politics as usual. Negotiating for more power while standing on the backs of those who would truly suffer the repercussions. I think you're right the country has never recovered.
As a country, when it comes to marginalized groups, wehether it's Black people, women, LGBTQIA+, it's never one progressive step after another. It's always a few steps forward, then a giant leap back. This great experiment called the United States is a train that has never truly left the station.
