Over the years, watching TV, on various programs, you hear of man seeking the meaning of life. Asking the question: Why are we here? Next to a fear of death, it may be the number two reason why religions are so popular. Typically, religions answer that question for you, so you don’t have to invest any thought into it.

I realized the reason why we’re here awhile ago, without truly knowing that I had.

Question: Why are we here?

Answer: To be better today than we were yesterday. To be the best version of ourselves.

That’s it.

Existentially, the answer is rather simple. I think the one thing that complicates that simple answer, at least for some, is how. How do you become the best version of yourself? The magnificent thing about it is that you get to choose how to become the best version of yourself. You can let someone decide for you, but eventually you might realize that someone else determined your destiny and that will mostly definitely send you on an existential tailspin.

Shot down in mid-flight and now you are spiraling nose first into the void.

You can avoid that by choosing how to be the best version of yourself, all on your own.
