I don't think Janelle Monae's album, "The Age of Pleasure" was given the credit it is due. It is a tour de force. The entire album is a tribute to truly free self expression and acceptance of yourself and everyone else. It makes me suspect that Janelle's message of gender fluidity, sexual fluidity, and love especially from a Black woman who identifies as non binary, is the reason why it was snubbed.

And overall it is a condemnation that no Black woman has been "good enough" in 25 years. It goes to show that you cannot wait for someone to give you flowers, you have to take the power from their hands and grow them yourself.
