The virus that is racism is woven into the very fabric of our lives, but deeper still is the virus that is colorism. It is woven into our very DNA and demonstrates the kind of self-loathing that can be found among Black people. And to what end? My mother taught me to not hate all white people, because not all of them are bad. Basically judge by the content of their character, right? But Black people will judge their own by the same criteria as our former enslavers. Denigrating, belittling and damaging our own for no reason at all. The world hurts us enough, we have to see and own the damage we cause each other and stop it. No one else will look out for us, so we have to.

This is an excellent post. I enjoyed it.
